That’s a wrap for the first week of the spring summer season at Grounded Motion and what a week it was!
If you weren’t able to get to one of our classes, then you wouldn’t have had the opportunity to participate in the wholistic experience we offer, however there is still 7 weeks left to come and arrive on the mat with us!
A question we've been asked a lot lately is what makes Grounded Motion different?
Simply put its more than just a vinyasa yoga class, hence our mantra.
More than Yoga. More than movement.
In such a busy world it’s hard to pause and carve out the time needed to look after yourself. If you’re anything like me you spend all of your energy, both physical and mental, holding space to care for your family and friends. It’s genuinely really hard to take that time to commit and invest in yourself. You schedule it in, you say to yourself ‘I’ll spend this time on myself, on my movement practice, meditation, journaling, reading a book etc. Something solely for me’, only to get side tracked by the long list of things you need to do or the needs of your loved ones.
We often feel selfish and guilty for taking time to ourselves. What we overlook though in those moments of self-doubt is that taking the time to invest in taking care of ourselves is also investing in our loved ones. Taking time to pause and reset means we are able to give our best selves to others. Grounding one's self throughout the week and taking time to work on our movement, breathing, strength and flexibility is us doing exactly that, taking time to invest in ourselves.
Invest in your future and allow yourself to share the best version of yourself with others. Whether that be with your friends, family or in the workplace.
Since becoming a mum, I have started following numerous accounts on Instagram that focus on things such as mental load, finding balance, connection, gratitude (the list goes on) in this new season of life. One highlight in my scrolling is @momlife_comics and one of her big slogans is to just eat the damn peach. 🍑
So, what does this mean exactly? It means that we spend so much time holding space and taking care of others that we forget to take time for ourselves, we forget that the delicious peach that is perfectly ripe that we bought our kids/partner/friends because they will get so much joy out of it, is also something we will get joy out of. Is our joy not as valuable? Now I’m not saying for you to stop buying delicious fruit for your loved ones, what I’m saying is you also deserve it. So buy it for yourself too!
We are best capable of caring for others and giving our best selves , at home, at work, with friends and family when we have taken the time to give to ourselves, to care for ourselves and ensure that our own needs are being met.
Grounded Motion was born out of a passion for a wholistic approach to health and movement, to provide the ability to carve that space out for you to connect with yourself, your body. To challenge yourself, to find a balance, to release and let go of anything that is holding you back in the moment.
So this week take the time for you, whether that be by joining us in class or doing something that is just for you.
